Cheepchi is a species of Monster, which can be found almost all over Victusia, but especially in forest biomes. They are one of the most abundant species in the game and one of the few which have the ability to reproduce by means other than auto-spawning.
Description[]
Cheepchi are ball-shaped birds with one eye and ram-like horns. While harmless, Cheepchis are called "thieves" and "mischievous" for their habit of rushing to eat any ingredient lying on the ground. This can be sometimes agitating, if a character is surrounded by Cheepchis and loses valuable ingredients because of them.
Once they eat something, Cheepchis will lay a white egg with blue spots. This egg can be harvested or broken, but if it remains on the ground, it will hatch into another Cheepchi.
Interestingly, if the Cheepchi spawns in with its plagued variant, it can consume other cheepchi horns and breasts in order to lay eggs. However, it cannot in its regular form.
History[]
Cheepchies were one of the first monsters to be hunted during the first famine, along with one of the first to be domesticated. However, domestication attempts failed due to their difficult to handle nature. Till present day, they are regularly hunted due to their ability to reproduce quickly, meaning that their population is never in danger, and because of the flexibility their parts offer.
Cheepchies are closest to real world chickens, and thus its meat can be applied over a wide range of meals. Their eggs can also be used for a variety of purposes. Its horn has been seen to be used in bread and other dishes that require dough, such as mooncakes. As such, it is likely that the horn is ground into a type of flour to be used for cooking.
Spawn Locations[]
Cheepchi are very numerous and when possible, reproduce in any location as long as they can eat an available ingredient.
On the Forest stage, they appear to spawn in two locations:
- The highest platform, where a Baurun and Taka Berry bush are found.
- The following highest platform, where a Caranha is found.
On the Darkrealm stage, they spawn only in one location, at the very top platform where the Armarock spawns.
