There are several food properties a chef needs to master to make it far in the tournament.

Flavor Profiles[]

Flavor profiles represent various tastes and components in Battle Chef Brigade, there are three main positive flavor profiles and 4 combo. In order to achieve a judge's specific taste bonus a player must have more level 3 taste gem of the required flavor profile. Some judges require a combination of level 3 taste gems of two different flavor profiles and a judge may require a rainbow flavor profile.

  • Fire
    • Found in enemies such as the Dragon and Baurun but also in some plants like the Sunhat Tomato. Corresponds to spicy and also in a way to savoury. Those that prefer this taste profile are great speakers, diplomats, and actors.
    • The judge that prefers this flavour is Ambassador Akebo.
  • Water
    • Found in enemies such as the Squickle and also the Armarock, corresponds mostly to sweet and mild flavors, and can be used in medicines. Those that prefer this taste profile are intellectuals, mages, sorcerers, and... drunks.
    • The judge that prefers this flavour is Instructor Maradain.
  • Earth
    • Found in most plant-life most notably the King-Bean and the Iceberg Turnip but can also be found in some monsters like the Caranah (though the Caranah is also a plant). This flavor profile corresponds to earthy flavors and is the most rotund of flavors. Those that prefer this taste profile are leaders, adventurers, and those who wish to help.
    • The judge that prefers this flavour is Grand Matriarch Hazgil.
      MainElements

The three main elements: Fire, Water, and Earth.

  • Wind
    • A combination of equal level three fire and water gems. It is an airy, colourless, element that's mostly found in flying enemies and water-based enemies. Notably, Caranha wings are the closest to the combination, but others include parts from the Hydra, Armarock, and taka berries.
    • The judge that prefers this flavour is Vivian.
  • Shadow
    • A combination of equal level three fire and earth gems. This is a dark substance, and is mostly commonly found on enemies in the Caverns stage. Hydra lungs and lupir bladder are some ingredients that have an equal number of fire and earth gems.
    • Judges that prefer this flavour profile are Kevin the Generous and Chief Engineer Lien.
  • Light
    • A combination of equal level three earth and water gems
    • Judges that prefer this flavour profile are Rudis and Sun Cultist Sargon.
  • Rainbow
    • A very special flavor profile that can only be achieved by having all level three taste gems of different types be equal to each other (such as 3 level three taste gems: one Water, one Earth, and one Fire.) Only the most sophisticated pallets desire this flavor profile. This element is not the same as having rainbow gems.
    • The only judge that asks for this flavour profile is Chairman Kamin.

Non-Elemental Taste Gems[]

While these do not contain elements, these gems are also interactable, and can influence the player's final dish. Either through bonuses, penalties, or by triggering the expertise bonus of the various books the player might have equipped.

  • Poison
    • A taste gem that is found in both plants and animals, such as the Squickle and the Quarry Cap. Having these in your dish at the time of serving will give a negative point bonus. If one, however, matches three, a Combo area will appear in the place of the middle poison gem.
    • After the poison gem is moved three times (by default, without the influence of items), it will explode and effect any adjacent gems. For any gem except another poison gem, it will cause the fragile status. For another poison gem, it will cause it to trigger.
    • In-universe, the poison gem has been known to make individuals fall ill.
  • Fragile
    • Fragile is not a taste gem, but rather a condition that's applied to any other taste gem except for poison. It shows in the form of cracks on top of the gem.
    • As the gem is stirred, the gem will continue to crack. Lasting three turns (by default, without items) before eventually breaking. Any leveled up taste gem that is broken will revert to a previous level, and any at level one will disappear.
  • Bone
    • While this taste gem will not give a player a negative point bonus, these taste gems take up space in a dish. If one, however combines three a rainbow taste gem will appear allowing a player to match any two taste gems (or one, if the player is using a specialty pot).

Sauces[]

Sauces are a crucial aspect of Battle Chef Brigade they can make or break a dish and it's point bonus if used wrong. They transform any taste gem they touch into whichever taste the sauce is (eg. a fire sauce will turn taste gems they touch into fire taste gems.) Using them on non-elemental taste gems, or on gems with an identical element, will prompt no effect.

  • Rainbow Sauce: Given by Leonid, instead of converting gems into Rainbow Gems, this sauce adds Rainbow Gems into your dish.
  • Ambrosia: This is the special project developed by Belchior, this sauce will upgrade any elemental taste gem it touches. Using it on a maxed out taste gem, or a non-elemental taste gem, results in no effect. There are two variants of this, a single drop, and a triple drop.
  • Verskit Blood: A special fire sauce that can be found by killing a pink Verskit.
  • Broken Egg: A special water sauce that can be obtained by hitting a Cheepchi egg.

Trivia[]

  • At one point, there was a moldy taste gem in the game. It would grow throughout the dish with every stir, resulting in it ruining already present gems and taking up space. It might have also given the player a point penalty if it was served in the final dish.
  • A 'doughy' gem was originally included, but was removed. It is assumed that it would've been for making dough-based dishes.
  • Thrash mentions that some individuals actually enjoy the taste of poison in their dishes. One such individual being the contestant Shiv Zaya, who prefers using poisonous ingredients in her dishes. Unfortunately also resulting in her repeated losses through penalties.
